CDW Requirements & Important Information

When CDW Coverage Applies

  • You must be current on all payments owed under rental or lease agreements
  • You must be compliant with all terms and conditions of rental or lease agreement
  • A written notice is provided to Boxwheel within 48 hours of occurrence
  • A police report is shared for all theft claims and when requested for collision claims
  • The damage event occurred in the United States or Canada

What Is a Covered Event

  • Collision (police report may be required)
  • Fire
  • Hail, wind, or tornado
  • Theft of the entire trailer (police report required)
  • Recovery of unit including towing and storage ($5,000 MAX per event)

What CDW Does Not Cover

  • Loading, unloading or improper securing of freight
  • Flood
  • Cargo loss or damage
  • Tire or wheel theft or damage caused by blowouts, flat spots, curbing, vandalism, or negligence
  • Negligence or improper use
  • Multiple unrelated events grouped into one claim
  • Lost or missing equipment without evidence of a covered event
  • Losses outside approved coverage territory

FAQ Highlights

Is CDW an insurance policy?

No. CDW is a damage waiver, not insurance. CDW is a waiver of your responsibility to Boxwheel for applicable damage under a covered event. Liability insurance with Boxwheel listed as additional insured is still required.

Do I need to file an insurance claim?

No. Boxwheel manages repair and recovery directly.

Do I need to report a CDW event?

Yes. Provide written notice to Boxwheel within 48 hours of a covered event.

Is there a deductible?

Yes. Deductibles vary based on equipment type and use. A separate deductible applies to each incident/occurrence.

Who handles repairs and salvage?

Boxwheel handles all repairs to covered events along with storage, disposal and/or salvage.

Does CDW cover towing?

Yes. Boxwheel CDW covers up to a max of $5,000 per event, when related to a covered event.

Can I add CDW mid-term?

Yes. Once a trailer passes a damage inspection by Boxwheel, you can be eligible to add CDW coverage.
